BIOS OF GUEST ARTISTS
Andrew Rader is a countertenor and Associate Instructor for the Early Music Institute of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. While studying at IU, he had the fortune to sing the title role in Handel's Giulio Cesare. As a member of Music City Baroque, Mr. Rader has been a soloist for J.S. Bach's St. John Passion and Henry Purcell's Come, Ye Sons of Art, as well as numerous verse anthems and other solo/chamber works. In the summer of 2008, Mr. Rader made his European debut at the Dom in Madgeburg, Germany as the soprano soloist for Bach's Kantata BWV 80.
John Olund enjoys a career singing early and contemporary music with many of Americas finest ensembles. He is a founding member of Lionheart, the six voice male ensemble. He was a long time member of The Waverly Consort and also has sung with Pomerium and The New York Consort of Viols as well as many other New York City based ensembles. He has recorded with Lionheart on Nimbus, Koch International Classics and Canteloupe labels and can be heard on numerous recordings with The Waverly Consort. He has traveled around the world touring extensively in the USA, Europe, the Far East and South America.
Praised for his “elegant style” (Boston Globe), Sumner Thompson is one of today’s most sought-after young baritones. His appearances on the operatic stage include roles in productions from Boston to Copenhagen, including the Boston Early Music Festival’s productions of Conradi’s Ariadne and Lully’s Psyché, and several European tours with Contemporary Opera Denmark as Orfeo in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. He has performed across North America as a soloist with Concerto Palatino, Tafelmusik, Apollo’s Fire, Les Boreades de Montréal, Les Voix Baroques, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, the King’s Noyse, Mercury Baroque, and the symphonies of Charlotte, Memphis, and Phoenix. He also sang the role of Jesus in Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with Joshua Rifkin and the Cambridge Concentus in their tour of Japan.
